We recommend using Word's default .docx format for the best results. Support for additional formats may be added in the future based on user demand.

How long does formatting take?

Most books are formatted in about 20 minutes. Longer manuscripts (100,000+ words) may take slightly longer, but even the longest books are typically completed within 30 minutes. You'll receive an email with download links as soon as your files are ready. No need to sit and wait — we'll notify you the moment your formatted book is available.

Are the files KDP compliant?

Yes! All PDF files are generated with the correct trim dimensions, margins (including gutter), and bleed settings required by Amazon KDP. Our system automatically calculates the appropriate gutter margin based on your book's page count, following Amazon's exact specifications. This means no rejected uploads, no manual margin adjustments, and no formatting headaches.

What trim sizes do you support?

We currently support three popular trim sizes: 5" × 8", 5.5" × 8.5", and 6" × 9". These cover the vast majority of self-published books across fiction and non-fiction genres. We plan to expand to all 16 KDP-supported trim sizes in a future update.

What fonts are available?

We offer three premium book-quality fonts: Palatino (TeX Gyre Pagella), Garamond (EB Garamond), and Times (TeX Gyre Termes). These are industry-standard typefaces used by major publishing houses. Each font is professionally hinted and optimized for print readability. Additional font options will be added in future updates.

You can review the analysis, choose your preferred trim size, font, and template, and see exactly what you'll get. Payment is only required when you're ready to generate your final formatted files.

Do you offer a satisfaction guarantee?

How does SwiftSet compare to Vellum or Atticus?

Vellum ($249.99) is Mac-only and requires manual formatting — you need to learn the software, set up your own styles, and handle layout yourself. Atticus ($147.99) is cross-platform but still requires learning the software and manually configuring your book. Do you support images or illustrations?

Image support is coming in a future update. Currently, we format text-based manuscripts with chapter headings, scene breaks, and front/back matter. This covers the vast majority of fiction and non-fiction books. If your book relies heavily on images, illustrations, or complex layouts, we recommend waiting for our image support update. Do I get both PDF and EPUB?

Yes! Every order includes both a print-ready PDF formatted to your chosen trim size (with correct KDP margins and gutter) and an EPUB file for digital distribution on platforms like Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo, and more. The EPUB is generated as EPUB3 with clean, reflowable text that looks great on any e-reader device.
